After Life

I thought this show was hilarious. One thing that I noticed is that the term "cunt" is used more frequently in the UK and carries a different connotation. I think it’s safe then to assume that exchemist is from the UK. Hmm…Point Scoring Cunt: I wonder if I should switch up. Sounds better than Secular Sanity, doesn’t it?  Big Grin

Asshole still #1 insult IMHO. Probably because it is a body part both sexes and all others have in common that has top ranking when talking importance.

Remember this:
Quote:When the Lord made man, all the parts of the body argued over who would be boss.
The brain explained that since he controlled all the parts of the body, he should be boss. The heart said it should be boss because without it nothing else mattered. The legs argued that since they took man wherever he wanted to go, they should be boss. The stomach countered with the explanation that since he digested all the food, he should be boss. The eyes said that without them man would be helpless, so they should be boss. Then the asshole applied for the job. The other parts of the body laughed so hard at this that the asshole became mad and closed up.
After a few days…
The heart began to palpitate, the brain went foggy, the legs got wobbly, the stomach got ill, and the eyes got crossed and unable to see. They all conceded and made the asshole boss.
This proved that you don’t have to be a brain to be boss…
Just an Asshole.

If the cunt closes up? Well no mention of that body part arguing to be boss is there? Don't see male genitalia on the list either.

Hmm...really? I always thought we were led by the nose. Oh, I see. So that's how the chain reaction occurs...from one asshole to another.

There was, but I guess it was an epic fail.

I've always liked a man with a big nose.  Big Grin

Wow, how long have you held that grudge?

It was an observation. And I was right. I just checked. London!

Still, that you've held onto that for so long...and seem to bring it up regularly...really seems to indicate a long-held grudge.

Maybe your localization realization will help you finally let it go.

Ah, here we go again. Like I said before, from my perspective, it’s not that you guys have to cater to our sensitivities.  We’ve just been forced to tip toe around yours for a very-very long time. I didn't hold a grudge because I wasn't offended. I thought it was funny. I bring it up because I liked it. 'Point Scoring Cunt' was a good one. I wish I had thought of it. 'Whiskey Dick' was pretty good, though.

If you want me to start interacting with you again, the least you could do is listen.

And which variety are you, Syne?

Yep, and then some.

Seems like any arbitrary coincidence nowadays will deflect me down an alley I was utterly disinterested in. Gervais referring to his new-found ability of expression as a "superpower", in that trailer, prodded me to learn what the caption "He's not here to save the world" meant with regard to Brightburn. Which I just dimly became aware of existing for the first time today. Doesn't sound like it's even got humor in it, despite being a product of James Gunn. OTOH, maybe "horror" in this era entails deliberate self-mockery, like AHS. It goes without saying that the genre sported the unintentional kind for generations of films.

Regardless, while I may check-out "After Life" (only 6 episodes to breeze through), I'll probably have to be the captive audience to another household member watching "Brightburn" someday.

I'd like to point out that Ricky Gervais isn't exactly what I would like to call 'the UK's finest export in recent years'. Unfortunately, at this precise moment, I can't think of anything better.

I checked it out. They say that with BrightBurn, the visionary filmmaker of Guardians of the Galaxy and The Belko Experiment presents a startling, subversive take on a radical new genre: superhero horror, but I think that superhero horror has been around for awhile, hasn't it?

"After Life" contains a little heart and humanity, though. I think you'd like it.

You know, thinking of superhero horror, it is odd when watching a movie from the perspective of even a serial killer, how we develop empathy for them, isn't it? We root for the bad guy, e.g., Kevin Costner in "Mr. Brooks".
