How Did They Know?

Yesterday I only watched between 5-10 minutes on Canadian news channel of the Norte Dame Cathedral fire in Paris. Maybe it was just dumb luck but that 10 minutes was taken up primarily by two reporters discussing why God decided to torch the place at this time and why praying to him to extinguish it was the only thing that was going to get it stopped. Maybe somehow I turned the TV set on to the only time during the whole scene where devout Catholics were reporting the news, I thought it might have been Vatican TV, who knows? My wife, a Catholic, was watching with me and even she exclaimed WTF while this man & woman broadcast pair went on and on about God’s role in the fire.

Somewhere I must have missed the telltale sign of God’s handiwork. This happens to me all the time. Is there something I should look for because I couldn’t help wonder how the reporters knew it was so.

Quote:Alain Faubert, the auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Montreal, said whenever he goes to Paris he makes a point to stop by the cathedral.
"Notre Dame is not a building, she's an old lady that we come and say 'hello' to and pay homage," he said.
Faubert said that despite being devastated over what was lost, he is hopeful for the future.
"I am certain that God will make something great out of this mess," he said.
CC.....You see, I never get to this point, knowing what God is going to do like the Bish says here. He seems to recognize something I don't. Kind of befuddling because I heard reporters say God had a hand in the blaze and praying to God would make it stop, although they couldn't really say why God would commit such an act. They just reassured everybody that God had this under control. Now this guy says he knows God is probably going to oversee the rebuild. I tend to think of such destruction as proof of nothing built by man will last forever. So it is totally natural and not unusual for such calamities to occur.

Yeah, I've got no clue what private voice is whispering in their minds or what passage in the Tome they're consulting, either, in these type cases. Of course, here additionally it's grounded in the bias of anything Catholic being the only "true institution" which God would recognize or endorse. No external doubt arising from generations of splintered sects disagreeing and quarreling with each other. Thus there can only be something good in store from the bad somewhere down the line, as it is definitely God's abode that was destroyed or damaged.
