A study published in The American Journal of Psychiatry has been retracted, after the authors admit that gender-affirming hormone treatments and surgery show no benefit to mood or anxiety disorders. The original study showed no mental health benefit to hormone therapies, and the correction of methodological issues extended that to surgery interventions.

"[...] some letters containing questions on the statistical methodology employed in the study led the Journal to seek statistical consultations."

Peer review or an urging for it is left up to the readers now? But this probably got a free or sloppily reviewed pass because studies supporting social engineering beliefs will tend to evoke journal approval (as kind of informal public service commitment). Researchers desperate to get their necessary minimum of papers published may gravitate to such study territory for that very reason.
Yep, just like the news, everyone has to be their own fact-checkers now. We can't even trust the self-styled fact-checkers.
