Well, for some the pale horse has already come and gone. It’s so sad. There’s at least 3 people dead and all the journalists care about are the wineries. That’s first world problems right there, eh?

I’ll feel better once I get organized. I think I’ll buy a travel trailer. I’d feel more secure if I could just hitch up and take off. All the hotels are always booked during these disasters. I’m am so looking forward to winter. I can’t wait to see the ground and trees drenched in water.

As far as conspiracies go, I'm not sure what Republicans would hope to gain from it in an election. Maybe eroding trust in Cali Dems from all the forest mismanagement? People do tend to vote Republican when they feel their safety is put in jeopardy, but I'm not sure if that translates to natural disasters.

I wasn’t thinking Republicans. I was thinking that the fires would make climate deniers look bad. I mean that is Newsom’s new slogan, "No Patience for Climate Deniers." His winery is currently in jeopardy.

That's a complete non-starter, as climate change can only cause more wildfires when timber harvest and forest management are reduced. IOW, climate is not the inciting factor. Local policy is, which is why Newsom is so keen on shifting the blame.
Yeah SS. Tell your governor he needs to do more raking of his state's forests like president dumbass suggested Finland does. lol! It's all about managing the forests.

California has already conceded the fact that better forest management is needed. It's called the Agreement for Shared Stewardship of California’s Forest and Rangelands.

This MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING (MOU) is hereby made and entered into by and between the State of California, hereinafter referred to as “the State,” and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Forest Service, Pacific Southwest Region, hereinafter referred to as “the U.S. Forest Service” and together referred to as “The Parties.”
...
This MOU establishes a joint framework to enhance science-based forest and rangeland stewardship in California. The U.S. Forest Service and the State of California commit to maintain and restore healthy forests and rangelands that reduce public safety risks, protect natural and built infrastructure, and enhance ecological habitat and biological diversity. TheParties agree to develop shared tools, coordinated processes, and innovative approaches to increase the pace, scale, and effectiveness of forest and rangeland stewardship in California.
...
Restoring healthy forests and rangelands in California will yield both ecological and community benefits. Healthy forests will improve climate resilience and reduce the risk of catastrophic wildfire, safeguard water quality and air quality, protect fish and wildlife habitat, enhance biological diversity, sequester carbon, improve recreational opportunities, and generate good jobs and economic opportunities.

You're just being duped by politicians.
Since the federal government owns nearly 58 percent of California's 33 million acres of forestlands, while the state owns 3 percent, maybe the federal govt needs to take it's own advice and start raking. I wonder how many people it takes to rake up a forest?

Of the approximately 33 million acres of forest in California, federal agencies (including the USDA Forest Service and USDI Bureau of Land Management and National Park Service) own and manage 19 million acres (57%). State and local agencies including CalFire, local open space, park and water districts and land trusts own another 3%. 40% of California's forestland is owned by families, Native American tribes, or companies. Industrial timber companies own 5 million acres (14%). 9 million acres are owned by individuals with nearly 90% of these owners having less than 50 acres of forest land.

And immediately upon taking office, Trump started opening public lands to industries, like logging, which would thin forests threatened by wildfire. All of the state, local, family, business, and individual owned lands are governed by California state regulations. Hence the Agreement for Shared Stewardship of California’s Forest and Rangelands, to get California to take responsibility for its own failed policies.
Is Napa Valley winery trying to capitalize on Combustible California or just coincidence?

After the first fire, some just added a smokey flavor to the description.

We're at 51266 acres and 2% contained as of 9/30/2020. High winds predicted for this weekend.  Sad
From Cal Fire's Glass Fire briefing about three hours ago:

Red Flag Warning now in effect until Saturday Morning

Fire is pushing towards Oakville. Only 71 people listed as living there, but several high profile wineries including Robert Mondavi. Active structure defense underway.

50% possibility that Kenwood (pop 1028) and Glen Ellen (pop 748 will be threatened if fire line doesn't hold. Small places but they are home to more high profile wineries and restaurants

Aircraft limited due to smoke conditions.

City of Santa Rosa is "Looking very favorable"
Glass Fire news Monday Oct 5 is mostly good in Napa and Sonoma. Calistoga has been downgraded from evacuation order to evacuation warning. Santa Rosa is no longer under threat. The main remaining worry is that the fire is still spreading in the north into Lake County where it has spotted over several dozer lines. Several large air tankers are actively working this in conjunction with National Guard helicopters doing water drops.
