This series is currently running on Hulu (BBC, but Hulu is where I've found it) and is brilliant! The plot is about a female psychopathic, highly skilled international assassin named Villanelle, who has stumped the detectives. Eve, a wanne-be spy who seems bored with her usual work as a security services operative, has been called in to help with a recent string of murders, that she suspects early on, is the handiwork of a woman.

The script is witty, clever, and very edgy. (not ''try hard'' edgy) The story twists and turns, and leaves you wondering if Villainelle will ever get caught. She is a lonely, troubled woman with quite a backstory, and I found myself feeling sorry for her - despite her ruthless behavior. (I'm always a little more than intrigued with a film or series that has me feeling empathy for the villain.)

The series does a great job as well, of taking the viewer through scenic routes of France, Italy and the UK. If you like psychological thrillers with an espionage twist, you'll get hooked on this one. Season 3 to be released soon...

I started watching last season and really like Killing Eve. Very edgy with good music soundtrack. I like to see series push the creative envelope and AMC seems to be doing that here. I also like their international settings and the spy intrigue. I'm anxious to see how Eve ends up after last season's finale.

I'm going to wait until at least the 3rd season is done, to binge watch (which is actually only a single episode a day for me).

Similarly, I haven't even seen a single one of "The Handmaid's Tale" yet, but it looks like I'm going to have to likewise cave-in and watch it after the fourth year. At least now I finally know who Elizabeth Moss is, after belatedly seeing the whole run of "Mad Men" after all this time.

I started watching "The Oa" after only its second season, and I regret that. Only eight episodes per batch and by the time the next comes out I will have forgotten what happened (that's already the case, probably circa a year ago and still counting). EDIT: Heck, I see now they cancelled it. Never start a Netflix show unless they pick-up somebody else's cancelled leftovers to finish a series. Often the same with Syfy programming, terminating on cliffhangers after two or three years, if it's a series produced outside their domain which they're just carrying. Like "The Expanse", which Jeff Bezos came to the rescue by acquiring it for Amazon Prime.

Yes, I thought that was it at the end of season 2, but so happy they're extending it another season. Should be good!

Think you'll like Killing Eve and Handmaiden's Tale has received high praise. I watched two episodes last year, and just didn't like it. The script is outstanding, with brilliant acting, but the imagery is difficult to watch, at times. I'm not interested in watching women being treated as property of men, enslaved to them sexually. Depending on how it's handled, I don't mind dark and twisted in small doses, but there doesn't seem to be any reprieve from it. So, that's one I had to pass on.

I watched the first couple of episodes of Killing Eve but didn't really like it. It was trying too hard to be atmospheric in my opinion, at the expense of a comprehensible plot. Style over substance. So I lost interest and perhaps didn't give it a chance.

I believe it's in the methods/styles of the murders that lead Eve to thinking the mysterious killer is a woman. I'm not a fan of ''try hard'' female empowerment plots (like the recent Ghostbusters movie, for example), and this one really isn't. Although, I can see other people maybe coming away with that idea.

Yea, I can see that. Maybe watch the entire first season, and see what you think? It's a bit of a character study of both Eve and Villainelle, which if you go into it with that view, you might find it more interesting.

Spoilers below, so all should avoid reading who haven't seen most of it.

At this point (one episode per day) I'm two episodes short of finishing the third season. I will say that Villanelle is even more an unfeeling menace than Alice Morgan, which elsewhere I proposed (after only watching a few episodes of the first season) might have contributed a touch to the TV adaptation of her (regardless of that probably not being the case with the novels). But the two really aren't much alike, even excluding Villanelle's assassin occupation ludicrously increasing the body count and the opportunities to be "amusingly" or "entertainingly" stony-hearted. 

Most of the primary characters are reprehensible. Including Eve, for even being fascinated or interested in someone like Villanelle to the detriment of her family and colleagues. Smartest thing her husband conveyed was "Piss off forever!", only he should have done it much sooner before recovering in a hospital bed. Though Villanelle's mentor Dasha did the deed, it's still part of the web of Villanelle and the latter could just have easily have stuck him with a pitchfork on one of her impulsive days.

After Irina drives over her mother's boyfriend and laughs about it (via Villanelle's influence, and because he was too disgustingly "nice a guy"), I've given up on the series even going down a redemption path for itself. Unless it happens at the very end.

But don't misunderstand. I'm not knocking the series as over-rated because I don't care about any of the key characters and what happens to them. Television is overflowing with shows nowadays like that (cable and streaming services more so than broadcast). And it's like "American Horror Story", "Preacher", and various other stuff that portray themselves as half comedic satire to diminish the gravity of the casual murder, violence, bloodshed, disemboweling, and dismemberment.

It's just that by this point "Killing Eve" seems predictable and superficial in its template (similar to how "American Horror Story" has for some time become agonizingly boring -- even in its anthology format -- by repeating the same collection of placeholder trope events). When there's no one to care about in a show aside from maybe a couple of peripheral roles, the viewer depends upon other factors to keep one interested. And "Killing Eve" just isn't robust or novel enough in that department. (But maybe that's purely because we've seen so many shows and their gimmicks built around the super-extreme antihero premise which "The Sopranos" kicked off in television so many years ago.)

I'll likely watch the fourth season, but that's due to the unthinking momentum that carries me with regard to completing any series that I start. Along with the possibility that there could be a big turnaround waiting around the corner in a show.

But...season 3 has me feeling blue. It’s feeling forced and trying too hard to be quirky and funny. That came naturally in the first two seasons. Hmm. It’s not a dark comedy, really yet it seems like the directors are going there. Flashing the names of new destinations across the screen and playing catchy foreign tunes can’t really disguise the lack of direction in season 3, just my opinion. I like Villanelle though so I’ll likely finish it at some point. Too bad it’s not very bingey, anymore.

Seems almost cartoonish now, as though this cast of characters can withstand all kinds of torture and injury.

Anyone watch season 3? If so, what do you think?
