"A decline in consumption of cigarettes is credited with being the most important factor in the drop in cancer death rates. Strikingly though, tobacco remains by far the leading cause of cancer deaths today, responsible for nearly three in ten cancer deaths."

Any government should be able to have a similar cancer reduction with similar policies. But few governments have the private innovation, equipment, labs, etc. to do what the US can in terms of cancer survivability.

I think because the strides with cancer research are steering towards preventative healthcare instead of merely reactive healthcare, that we're seeing a decline. This is encouraging news.
