EXCERPT: Slimy creature washed ashore at Leo Carrillo Beach in Malibu, California. It weighed around 3.2 kilograms (7 lbs) and was 13 centimetres (5 inches) wide. Person who found it shared pictures of it online to find out what it was. One user suggested it was a 'long-dead' California sea hare, a common species of sea slug....
When my senior class was swimming at South Padre Island there were these sea slugs everywhere about the size of your fist. When we grabbed them they squirted purple ink. I say slugs but maybe they were some sort of squid.
