one news item says the women is charged with Reckless Discharge of a fire arm.

while on one hand you have all the laws & costs faced by companys wanting to make movies which create jobs...
on the other hand you have private citizens seeking to profit from filming.

it is lucky that no one else was killed.
it leaves me wondering how a person can purchase what is arguably the most powerful hand gun availible and yet not have any clue as to what it can do.

if it were not for the reported witnesses it would be likely homicide & 2 children thrown on to the scrap heap.
Despite the fictional Forrest Gump, there is no reward for stupidity. In a big world with many people the odds that two incredibly stupid individuals could fatally hook up is not as astronomical as one may think. It's a wonder they chose the chest area and not the genital. Maybe that was too risky. My sincerest hope for this unbelievable display by two brainless idiots is that the unborn child is not equipped with the same genetics.

had the round been a bad load & he survived i wonder for his next stunt if he would be playing chicken on the road between crowded school buses & petrol tankers.
some would argue this is the best outcome.
Confucious say:

Man with hole in heart always love high calibre lady.

I fail to see the relevance to US gun laws or hypocrisy.

Darwin Award winners will seemingly kill themselves with anything at hand, including Bengal tigers, padded cells, etc.. You can't outlaw stupid, nor are laws like those that allow 16 year olds to drive responsible for teen vehicle deaths.

People purchase dangerous tools and equipment all the time. I don't hear you similarly complaining about why people who know nothing about chainsaws are allowed to buy those. Ah, that must be the hypocrisy you were talking about.

Recless use of a chainsaw that causes the death of non consenting members of the public ?

just run through that for me.
how does that work ?
Maybe you missed the part where the guy talked her into shooting at him. IOW, consenting. Not that that would excuse man slaughter...by gun or chainsaw. So, I still fail to see any difference...other than perhaps an irrational fear of one dangerous tool over another.
You'd think they would have at least tried to see if the book could stop the bullet prior to holding encyclopedia close to the chest. The scientific method was not part of any curriculum they've ever partaken in. Thus the value of a good education has just been increased after the behavior of these two.
I doubt Darwin Award winners would heed even the best education. There's little overcoming being born stupid, and legislation can only hope to treat everyone as stupid...negating a need for education. But who really wants these people continuing to pollute the gene pool?
