Full Version: indians blaming alcahol for anti social behaviour

i just read this article and it reminded me of many conversations i have had with indian people who have made specific reference to alcahol being a scourge of social order.
While i do not dispute the potential that alcahol has i wonder if there is anything other than statistics at play ?

do indians tend to drink higher concentrated alcahol than other cultures ?
i hear whiskey is quite liked as a social norm and know very well that whisky is soo strong it can render people unconscious with relative ease compared to beer & wine.

Note i am not a puratin. i am pro regulation for recreational drug use & pro decriminalisation.
