That's all great until some smart arse sets a mirror up to fire the shot back.
Reportedly they have found a way for this laser weapon to shoot through cloud and fog. My layman's guess is that it isn't primarily using visible light. Perhaps that would be relevant to Stryder's mirror point. Do mirrors reflect non-visible wavelengths like infrared?

Even if mirrors can defeat this thing, I guess that they figure that most targets won't have reflective-coatings.

In order for this to be an effective heat-ray, it will either have to deliver an awful lot of energy really fast, or else it will have to remain focused on the same point for some time.
