INTRO SUMMARY: Engineering animals with CRISPR can help biologists to understand the genes behind some of evolution’s most dramatic changes.

Not sure what it's going to mean for humanity down the road and I see nothing wrong with such experimentation. It may be we're witnessing the next evolutionary step, perfectly in line with the natural progression of things. Now please can I have one of those square tomatoes?
