I used to build sandcastles at the beach by dribbling wet sand into elaborate spires and arches that required the utmost attention to detail. When doing this I was in a state of flow--a totally absorbing and high feedback activity that was challenging yet immediately self-rewarding. Before I knew it a whole hour had passed, and my neck had a crick in it, and before me was my masterpiece of stalagmite sand structures. Do you have an activity you go into flow mode over? Texting online can be a flow state, particularly when you feel really inspired or passionate about saying something. Playing video games is another flow activity. Check this video out:
