Clowns have been gradually working their way up over the decades in the horror chart rankings. Someday they'll replace zombies in negative popularity.

They've probably become offensive, too, in at least some kind of litigation-worthy sense. I certainly wouldn't risk the ire of other parents by hiring a clown to come to a kid's birthday party. We need more specialized categories and lists to accommodate the growing number of mutating cultural taboos and ideologically un-kosher things; and a website to keep humanity updated on the new additions and changes.

Hospital clowns images are too scary: "We found that clowns are universally disliked by children. Some found them quite frightening and unknowable."

Why are we so scared of clowns?: "But the past fifty years has seen growing concern over 'stranger danger' and a suspicion of those who want to spend time around children. 'We’ve come to question the sexual motivation of somebody dressing as a clown, of grown men who choose to dress in a full clown costume,' says Stott. Plus, he adds, 'There’s something tragically unfunny about the vast majority of people who do clowning.'"

Clowns face extinction: "Children's entertainers report party bookings for clown characters are on the slide [...] In modern blockbuster circuses, clowns have transformed into sleek comic performers, with [their traditional] squirting flowers and oversized trousers nowhere in sight. One way and another, these are dark days for Bozo and his kind."

Coulrophobia
Because of Stephen King's ''It''...that's why we are scared of clowns. Sad
John Wayne Gacy didn't help much either.
