I'm on Season 4 now of Breaking Bad. I concur with its status as perhaps the best. GoT next.

Seems like The Sopranos was holding the title during that decade itself, but BB knocked it off the pedestal after it concluded in 2013 (or whenever). The Wire was almost too realistic.
Other honorable mentions that either debuted in or were still running during the 2000s would be Oz, Six Feet Under, Nip/Tuck, Lost, Sons of Anarchy, The Shield, Deadwood, and Dexter. It's bromide "medical procedural" status would be the only thing threatening to keep "House" off such a list.
