I'd need way more than seven for my life, but based on yours, here's some I prefer from some of the same artists:

Indigo Girls - Galileo

Alanis Morissette - Crazy

Silversun Pickups – Nightlight (Acoustic)

Foo Fighters - Pretender

I've never even pondered this type of eclectic personal life representation. Wouldn't have a clue; stopped listening to radio stations some time ago and have probably already forgotten a bevy of song lyrics as a result.

Nice, eclectic, and any list with Dire Straits and Chuck Berry has much to offer.  My eclectic tastes range through thousands of song tracks from Rossini to Coltrane to Fats Waller to Gershwin to Steely Dan to Talking Heads to the Cars to Tom Lehrer to classic Brit like J Tull, Stones, Zeppelin, Deep Purple, XTC, Yes, to musical poets like Paul Simon or Dylan or Neil Young, to one-off hits like American Pie.  How to pick seven?  The mind fails.  I almost could see ignoring all the classic bands and dredging up seven random one-off hits that were underrated.  Let me think on that.
