Case in point number 1:

I didn't see how it was possible that she could only be 83, but I guess it adds up. She was just 16 when her first single was released in 1958.

She's of Ashkenazi Jewish ethnicity, a population group that's noted for living beyond 90 and over 100 years: Carl Reiner (98), Kirk Douglas (103), George Burns (100), Stan Lee (95), Mel Brooks (99) and William Shatner (94) both still going, Milton Berle (93), Piper Laurie (91), etc.

Lauren Bacall missed the boat at 89 and Leonard Nimoy shockingly only made it to 83. Compared to people in general, for some reverse reason the Ashkenazi men seem to live longer than the women (at least with respect to celebrities).
