Full Version: How humans lost their psychic abilities

I personally believe that our prehistoric ancestors had psychic abilities that enabled them to survive better in the wild. The ability to sense danger. The ability to foresee and deter future tragic events. Communication with spirits. Instantaneous hypercognitive assessments of situations. So what led to it being so rarely exhibited today? Here's a finding that suggests it was genetically shut off by a mutation such that it was not as commonly used any more. Living in large technologically advanced societies made the gene for it less crucial and so naturally selected to be inoperative. Not to mention those continuing to exhibit such abilities just being ostracized and burned at the stake as witches. There is strong evidence however even today that children and animals have some measure of psychic abilities. But as we grow older we learn from our culture to squash these impressions in favor of rational and more socially-acceptable thinking.
