We may have ditched the monkey-to-man meme, but the myth of humans as nature’s “pinnacle of evolution” persists in subtler ways...

The main bone of contention is whether we were planted in a garden or evolved from something earlier.
There's drawing showing (apparently) little monkey, great ape, chimpanzee .. call me stupid if you like but I just read this as body style changing over millions of years .. any resemblance to modern great apes would be coincidental rather than a significant evolutionary step.
