While not everyone will be aware about legal changes globally. I feel it should be mentioned that some countries change their laws in regards to requiring an age of consent for various activities online. That unfortunately has meant that some things like certain image sharing services (and certain news corporations) tend to limit their external usage on the internet.

This of course will not be noticed by those unaffected, however to those that are they can end up subjected to the absence of what is being linked or a rude statement in place of whatever is suppose to be there.

An example of this is www.imgur.com (Which is not available in the UK thanks to changes in age of consent and likely down to adhoc self-made porno on the site.)

I guess rather than flagging content creators as "mature" (and requiring a login), it was just easier for them to block everything. So its actually become increasingly difficult to make sure that the content that is viewable from such sites is actually not harmful to audiences outside of the UK if they are linked here. While I could block the site from being used, I'd rather just point it out as a cautionary tale of how absurd responses to legal changes can effect the internet.
