INTRO: Huge crowds have gathered this evening to enjoy the spooky spectacle of Halloween in Londonderry. Spectators dressed up as their favourite characters from the world of fiction with the TV series Squid Game having a major influence on costume choices.

Visitors travelled from as far away as America, Canada and Australia to watch the main parade on Friday night. Tourists from Spain, Italy and Germany were also among the hoards of people who filled the city centre.

It’s believed 100,000 people from all over the world have been in the maiden city this week for the world-famous celebrations.

The parade began at 7pm before people flocked to the banks of the River Foyle in time to see the firework finale at 8.15pm... (MORE - details)

Don’t know about Londonderry but out here in the rurals where I live there’s been 47 kids at my door tonight. One hay wagon showed up with about 30 kids on it. I know Halloween is a big deal in British Columbia (fireworks et al) but here in Ontario not so much. Oct 31 was my father’s bday..RIP.
