Quote:Presenting LGBT characters to young children normalizes what many deem immoral. It's like showing young children graphic sex or violence. Most sane parents do not want to expose/desensitize their children to many things until they are old enough to really understand or be able to handle it.

It's less a moral thing than a religious thing. In the exact same sense that officials in Muslim theocracies ban books about LGBT or probably anything sexual at all. Same logic and instinctive hatred based on religious programming having nothing to do with actual LGBT people at all or the biological sex drive. Your attempt to justify such puritanical censorship is completely laughable knowing there's no way you'd want to live in a society like that. Like I said, defend principles and beliefs you actually have. It would do wonders for your credibility.
Protecting children. But I don't expect you to understand that.
There's nothing in a book about characters who happen to be LGBT to protect children from. Any more than there is in a book about any other type of person--autistic, disabled, red-haired, deaf, asian, twins, overweight, tall, or ingenious. It's just one among many ways humans can exist. Trying to create the illusion that such humans don't or shouldn't exist is to teach hatred and intolerance and ignorance. And especially is this damaging to kids who are themselves LGBT and having to deal with that in an environment of stigma and condemnation.
Like I just said, I wouldn't expect you to understand.
