Going back to the OP ..
'Groupthink' isn't intended as a compliment, this thread is an opportunity for folks to clarify why they believe the insult is justified or unjustified. Actual truth has little or no effect on belief so looking at some of the beliefs so far..

I hope this is correct .. MR (with citations) and occasionally myself (opinion) have suggested that the vaccines offered were highly effective and mass vaccination was appropriate.

Syne has countered with the suggestion that some or all of the immunity (up to 10%) may have been natural and not a consequence of vaccination ALSO the vaccination (indeed any vaccination) may offer less or zero protection to future variants of the disease. Fair summary? Syne's belief is that natural immunity between 0 and 10% should have been allowed to 'work' and the 90-100% of the [vaccinated] population benefiting from lower infection and/or reduced serious complications did not justify a policy of mass vaccination.
Aside from MR this thread seems to be something of a trip into the ignorance and stupidity zone.

In the UK we had 67,000 hospital beds and a population of 67 million. If more than 0.1% of the population needed a hospital bed at any one time they couldn't have one. At times old folks were sent home (to die) because young folks were given higher priority and were a much better (by any reasonable definition of 'better') use of the available resources.

Given that the unvaxxed were 10 times more likely to need hospital treatment I strongly suspect the very people (unvaxxed) moaning about lock-downs and social distancing and masking are generally the same people who made it necessary in the first place.

The US may well have had a higher ratio of hospital beds to population - what was it? You don't know? What, in your opinion, would an ignorance and stupidity zone actually look like?
