I've actually been told that I sound quite intelligent when I talk in my sleep.

So you really believe no one can be intelligent in a sensory deprivation chamber? You know, no environmental stimuli.

Man, the lengths you have to go to to make yourself feel better.
Quote:So you really believe no one can be intelligent in a sensory deprivation chamber? You know, no environmental stimuli.

Nope...a very low level of intelligence or information processing going on. Like listening to Trump speak..
So you really don't think about anything intelligently if you don't have external stimuli? No self-generated intelligent thoughts?

I cannot even imagine that. Man, you experience a completely different world than I do.
Quote:So you really don't think about anything intelligently if you don't have external stimuli? No self-generated intelligent thoughts?

Nope..that would be like daydreaming, a very low information processing state of being. Having thoughts is not the same as thinking btw.

Yes I do...and I am very glad of it!
Wow, you only daydream without external stimuli?
You never try to work out problems, designs, schedules, etc.?
Quote:Wow, you only daydream without external stimuli?

No..I also fantasize, remember, imagine, and have thoughts. But that doesn't suddenly mean I am more intelligent or cognizant. The key to intelligence is learning and processing new information, which only happens in interaction with the environment.

Not without processing new information.
You do know that you can originate new information, right? I mean, how do you think new things get invented or new ideas come about? Do you really believe they "just happen" in response to stimuli?

You can at least retain new information and process it later, when there is no significant external stimuli, right? Please tell me you can at least do that much.

Not without interaction with the environment. Things are tried out, some work and others don't. And so you try more things and something new happens. Viola! Innovation!

But then you cross check and find out if your processed information is correct or on the right track. Nobody just thinks up an answer to a problem in a vacuum. You have to try it out and fine tune it in the real world and with further research. IOW, you need more information.
If you say so. I have invented things and new ideas wholesale, without any trial and error.
Many problems can be solved with what you have on hand, though years of past experience. No new information necessary.
