Quote:Is there any vandalism you don't condone?

Funny. I don't remember George Washington and Christopher Columbus fighting in the Civil War.

That sort of vandalism would be wrong. That's not what we are discussing. The vandalism that is a response to an unjust regime. Review previous posts if you've forgotten them.
Funny you still can't seem to handle simple English.
The people who vandalized and wanted to remove (many successfully) the memorials to Columbus, Washington, Lincoln, etc. claimed they were doing it to fight injustice too.

Yes, many Christopher Columbus memorials have been removed across the U.S. and globally, especially after the 2020 George Floyd protests, due to growing recognition of his role in genocide, enslavement, and colonial violence against Indigenous peoples, with cities like Chicago, Los Angeles, and Columbus, Ohio.

I guess you don't think any of that was unjust.

You're right. I have absolutely nothing against Christopher Columbus memorials being removed by the cities and institutions themselves. It's their statues. They can do what they want with them.

So some memorials are sacrosanct and some are not.

People who put up memorials can take them down if they choose. It has nothing to do with not being sacrosanct.
So equally, congress can rename memorials, if they choose.

Congress can. Not Trump and his handpicked board of Kennedy Center directors..
.
In the UK we tend to wait for folks to die before we do the memorial thing. The nature of the memorial generally reflects the love and respect the person gained in life. As culture changes there may be people who are (later) judged best forgotten. Trump already has the Trump University as a living memorial - any allegations of fraud against it are very much a part of Trump's living legacy and may well be what he is most celebrated for after his death.

No one here said otherwise. 9_9
Typically every US ex-president tends to get a library named after him. Donald Dumbass, who has never read a book in his entire life, may actually be the one exception.

And then there is this:
