Parody Corner: Despite whatever hysteria the surveys, wonks, etc might be generating...

The Establishment -- that mighty political complex of mainstream media, the entertainment industry, the academic world, progressive companies and corporations, and whatever manipulable government agencies -- has got to feel pretty confident that it has adequately thwarted yet another populist initiative. After all -- this isn't 2016, when it was completely caught off-guard and unprepared due to a combination of hubris and considering the candidate to be an ineffectual joke.

But what if the statistical unlikelihood of another such event -- a mere eight years from the last occurrence -- does result? Is there still any way for the Complex to prevent populist leadership from assuming the seat? Obviously, the route of justice and legislative measures has failed before in other situations. So this leaves...

[...edited out due to controversial nature...]

So the possibilities for extrication "after the fact" seem exhausted or futile -- at least if the extra goal is to avoid being detected and confronted. There is no last-ditch "safety net" for the Establishment, there are no unprolonged options if the universe dishes out the improbable again.

Accordingly, this means that in the weeks and months before Election Day, all the more a massive investment in prevention had transpired. We may be seeing only the tip of the iceberg of what has been spectacularly orchestrated. Anything less might indicate that the Establishment has just as much or even greater hauteur and trust in its populist deterrent-system than prior to 2016 (no overkill necessary).
Nate Silver, pollster formerly with FiveThirtyEight, is predicting the most likely outcome is a Trump sweep of the swing states, with a Kamala sweep being a distant second most likely.

As far as thwarting an election, that's the test of how robust our checks and balances are. Personally, I believe them still pretty robust. Even if all else fails, the states are a final bulwark.
Better post the National Guard around the Capitol to prepare for when all the crybaby Trumpers deny the results again and try to take over Congress at the prompting of Donny Douchebag. You know.. just in case.

Trump’s Next Big Lie Has Already Begun
https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2024...g-lie.html

"Republicans are targeting Latino voters by repeating lies about immigrants and voting. These kinds of false claims are shaping up to be the Big Lie of 2024. In 2020, Trump justified his efforts to overturn the election with parallel racist conspiracy theories about made-up election fraud. Now, Trump and his allies are rebooting his preposterous conspiracies, this time by spreading racist lies about who is casting votes in the first place—scaremongering about immigrants voting, attacking voter registrations, and bringing scores of lawsuits."

The Washington state governor has called up their National Guard in case there's unrest after the election.
One guess which side could possibly warrant that kind of precaution in the state of Washington.

But the delusional still believe the disproven hoax that Trump somehow called for an attack on Congress by literally telling people to remain peaceful. Some people seem deathly allergic to reality.
Trump blatantly provoked the attack on the Capitol bldg by spreading the lie that the election was stolen. You couldn't come up with a more infuriating idea to ignite an insurrection with. And it worked like a charm as Trump sat smugly in his room doing nothing and watched them on TV.

WASHINGTON, July 21 (Reuters) - "Donald Trump sat for hours watching the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol unfold on live TV, ignoring pleas by his children and other close advisers to urge his supporters to stop the violence, witnesses told a congressional hearing on Thursday.
The House of Representatives Select Committee used its eighth hearing this summer to detail what members said was Trump's refusal to act for the 187 minutes between the end of his inflammatory speech at a rally urging supporters to march on the Capitol, and the release of a video telling them to go home."

On;y delusional leftists can turn a literal call for peaceful protest into provocation of a riot.
But maybe it's just projection, as that's exactly what those leftists mean when they call for peaceful protest, as evidence all the BLM riots.

For the umpteenth time, if Trump stating his opinion is a de facto inciting to riot then Democrat rhetoric is the de facto cause of a Congressional baseball game shooting, two assassination attempts, countless BLM riots, etc.. You can't have one without the other unless you're a delusional moron.
Quote:stating his opinion is a de facto inciting to riot

No..an actual lie to stir up the mob into an insurrection. Proof? That's exactly what it did. What other reason did they have to attack the Capitol and storm Congress and chant "hang Pence!" ? None whatsoever. And that makes Trump the prime instigator of it.
See how dishonest leftists avoid the obvious double standard they have about political rhetoric?
I thought the most surprising thing was what didn't happen that day. If republicans had truly believed democracy* was under threat they'd (surely?) have loaded up their bazookas and done a lot more than just run around dressed up as elks. Q. Why didn't they? A. They didn't ackshully believe Trump.

* Assuming democracy is written in the constitution .. maybe it isn't , maybe that's the explanation.
I was watching the day it all happened. After they finally broke thru the Capitol doors and filled the halls of Congress, it was like they were all amused by it. Sitting at Nancy Pelosi's desk with feet propped up. Wandering around in the House chamber looking over paperwork. I think it suddenly dawned on them that there's really nothing they could do. The people they were after were all evacuated. And there's no way their riot was going to reverse a national election. So they just soaked up the moment, as a sort of empty gesture of taking over a supposedly corrupt system. That's what happens when you're brainwashed into doing something without thinking it through. When you get swept along with the amoral anonymity of the surrounding crowd. Eventually you see it is all really just a big farce you were sucked into. In reality there's really no villains. No secret cover-up. And you were played like a worthless pawn in a losing chess game.
