The situation in the southern Appalachians might be a lot worse than the establishment media is telling us.

To hear people tell it, what little outside aid is getting in is state and local, and then only in the larger towns. FEMA and the federal government are just starting to appear in the larger towns a week after the storm and are seemingly overwhelmed by what they are seeing. There are many smaller communities in the mountains with no electricity, no communications, no roads, no food and no water, no homes in many cases, just the smell of decomposing corpses. To hear them tell it, desperation is growing, people are starting to loot to stay alive, and volunteer militias are forming to replace missing law enforcement. They say the final death toll will be in the thousands.

But the media prefers to hush it up and downplay it to make Kamala and Homeland Security look good

They thought Bush had it bad with Katrina... and that was just one city.

Have heard of cemeteries washed away….could that be contributing? Saw one vid of a coffin floating away. Someone will eventually have to separate old corpses from new?

Someone was telling me that Fed money set aside for such an emergency was spent on Immigrants arriving via southern border….T or F?
Elon just posted this communication he received from a SpaceX engineer who is in Asheville NC working to coordinate Starlink distribution there:

“Hey Elon, update here on site of Asheville, NC. We have powered up two large operating bases for choppers to deliver goods into hands. We’ve deployed 300+ starlinks and outpour is it has saved many lives.

The big issue is FEMA is actively blocking shipments and seizing goods and services locally and locking them away to state they are their own. It’s very real and scary how much they have taken control to stop people helping. We are blocked now on the shipments of new starlinks coming in until we get an escort..."

There are many other reports just like it. People performing volunteer relief efforts are being threatened with arrest. FEMA seems more zealous to take over federal control of the entire relief effort than it is in actually performing relief efforts.

One of the people that first organized volunteer distribution of Starlinks even before Elon intervened and got SpaceX into the act, says that FEMA is claiming that the terminals that were originally delivered by the volunteer effort were delivered by FEMA.

T ... FEMA first tried to game the whole thing by claiming that in order to handle the hurricane ("cleanup" they originally called it, obviously unaware of the gravity of the situation) they needed more funding appropriations from Congress.

That blew up in their faces when it was pointed out that the current regime is looting FEMA's Emergency Food and Shelter Program (created for situations just like we are seeing now) to fund a concierge service for 10 million illegal aliens, providing them with housing, transportation and food vouchers.

Yeah, those older reports and news items do seem to exist, where FEMA was used as a funding outlet to migrants. Not just this year, but previous ones.

The recent National Review article differs from the AP one (in terms of mentioning that), but AP is of course known for altering original headlines (and maybe content) after initial release. As with its coverage of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah being killed by Israel.

The legacy media is launching a massive campaign to try to debunk this. It's an effort that is so "all over the place" in scale, that one gets the sense that the WH virtually commanded it be done.

(Oct 3, 2024) Mayorkas warns FEMA lacks funding for hurricane cleanup after agency spent over a billion on migrants
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/mayork...r-AA1rEsgi

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas warned Wednesday that the Federal Emergency Management Agency, which has spent more than one billion dollars on services for illegal immigrants over the past year, now has insufficient funds to last through the hurricane season.

(April 12, 2024) Department of Homeland Security announces $300 million in direct funding to communities receiving migrants and $340 million for a new competitive awards process
https://www.fema.gov/press-release/20240...ct-funding

Today, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), through FEMA and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), announced $300 million in grants through the Shelter and Services Program (SSP), which was authorized by Congress to support communities that are providing services to migrants. Two hundred seventy-five million dollars will be distributed in the first allocation, and the remaining $25 million will be allocated later in the year to accommodate evolving operational requirements. The initial funding will be available to 55 grant recipients for temporary shelter and other eligible costs associated with migrants awaiting the outcome of their immigration proceedings. Additionally, DHS is announcing $340.9 million through the Shelter and Services Program-Competitive grant program to be allocated before the end of this fiscal year.

(July, 2024) FEMA program for migrants grows along with border crisis — from over $360M to $650M
https://nypost.com/2024/07/08/us-news/fe...m-to-650m/

The city of Atlanta received $4.85 million in funding in 2023, the first year of the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Shelter and Services Program for migrants. In 2024, the city will get $10.89 million in the second year, with another round of funding later in the year to be announced. FEMA’s Shelter and Services Program is another indicator of the growing impact of the arrival of millions of foreign nationals in the US since President Joe Biden took office. The program provides grants to communities for the expenses they will incur for handling migrants.

(Oct 2, 2024) The Federal Emergency Management Agency can meet immediate needs but does not have enough funding to make it through the hurricane season, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas told reporters Wednesday.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency can meet immediate needs but does not have enough funding to make it through the hurricane season, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas told reporters Wednesday.

The agency is being stretched as it works with states to assess damage from Hurricane Helene and delivers meals, water, generators and other critical supplies. The storm struck Florida last week, then plowed through several states in the Southeast, flooding towns and killing more than 160 people.

Mayorkas was not specific about how much additional money the agency may need, but his remarks on Air Force One underscored concerns voiced by President Joe Biden...
It's all politics

Maybe they forgot who founded, is CEO of, and owns a controlling interest in Starlink. Starlink wouldn't have a response without Elon.
When exactly did FEMA buy up a stock of Starlinks? Because that's the only way they did anything without Elon knowing and very likely helping them.

They're just lying to the stupid, low-information voters.

People on X are saying that FEMA purchased about two dozen Starlink dishes at big box stores or something. But the same people are saying that none of those dishes have found their way out into the isolated cut-off settlements that need them. Instead, they are being used by FEMA executives to communicate with each other.

Elon has donated ~500 dishes (and probably more if needed, dishes continue to flow in). He has waived user fees in the effected areas. And his people have organized helicopters to get the dishes out to the people that need them.

Or that was happening until FEMA showed up and shut it down.

Independent journalist Nick Sortor (the guy who made East Palestine OH into a national story) was one of the early volunteers first delivering Starlink dishes in the mountains, with the assistance of the NC State Police. He says,

"Let me know where the blockades are and we’ll have NC State Police move them out of the way.
Already did it once, which is one reason why we have an escort now. FEMA has zero jurisdiction.
Trust me. They’re not going to win this one."
I don't know the exact situation in those locations, but you have to make sure you consider that some rumours, stories and memes are there for political maliciousness which doesn't help anyone.

From what I've heard, some places have lost road systems making it difficult to move goods about, even people are using mule trains to defeat not getting through.

If FEMA is really trying to pool things together you've got to consider that perhaps they are trying to organise it so the goods are distributed equally and not just handed to certain people (Like political groups voters over another). Obviously concern of greed are going to be rife, some people really do not care that much about other people and if left to do whatever they want will cause more problems than resolutions.

In GA from what I can having power down means water can't be pumped from wells, people can't keep cool or get cleaned up, fridges and freezers go bad from being out of power, School kids are going spare they haven't got internet access for their smart devices :/. Coupled with supply chains being spotty in some places it can be problematic such as fuel supply. In the cities most have pooled together as a community to get it up and running again, in the countryside they likely bunker down for the most part in the hope that all will eventually be resolved.

I'm pretty sure for the most part Law enforcement would prefer people to stay put if they can, or if they intend to venture out to consider what it is they are trying to achieve in the long run and if it's worth it.
