EXCERPT: A California specialty drugmaker is offering a $1 [per pill] rival to a prescription drug solely supplied by Turing Pharmaceuticals, whose 5,000 percent price hike last month sparked outrage in the United States. Imprimis Pharmaceuticals said Thursday it is offering a combination of pyrimethamine and leucovorin in an oral capsule for physicians to prescribe as a low-cost alternative [...] The San Diego-based Imprimis said it would offer its alternative capsule starting as low as $99.00 for a 100-count bottle, a tick less than $1 each.

Pyrimethamine is used to fight toxoplasmosis, an parasite-borne infection that often inflicts persons with weakened immune systems, such as patients with HIV/AIDS. Leucovorin helps to reverse the negative effects of pyrimethamine use on bone marrow. The company will put together a custom compound of the two ingredients.....
Good for them! That asshole Turing Pharmaceuticals CEO Martin Shkreli who jacked up the price of those pills 5000% oughta be slowly disemboweled over an open flame. At least he reneged (somewhat) when he saw his stock plummeting. His 15 minutes of fame as the most hated man in America were not pretty to say the least! lol!

Goodbye CEO Martin Shkreli! Enjoy your stay at the Graybar Hotel pimping your skank ass for cigarettes.

"Martin Shkreli, a lightning rod for growing outrage over soaring prescription drug prices, was arrested by the FBI on Thursday amid a federal investigation involving his former hedge fund and a pharmaceutical company he previously headed.

Shkreli, who is now chief executive officer of Turing Pharmaceuticals and KaloBios Pharmaceuticals, was charged in a federal indictment related to his time managing hedge fund MSMB Capital Management and CEO of biopharmaceutical company Retrophin.

The U.S. attorney's office in Brooklyn, New York, unsealed an indictment against Shkreli on Thursday, charging him with seven counts including conspiracy to commit securities fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud. U.S. Attorney Robert Capers alleged Shkreli used Retrophin to cover personal debts.

"As alleged in the indictment, Shkreli essentially ran his companies like a Ponzi scheme, where he used each subsequent company to pay off the defrauded investors in the prior company," Capers said.

Shkreli was released on a $5 million bond, and had his travel restricted to parts of New York. He surrendered his passport and cannot contact MSMB or Retrophin employees.

He will next appear in court on Jan. 20."===http://www.cnbc.com/2015/12/17/turing-ph...uters.html
