San Francisco is preparing for the 2023 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit to be held this week.

Biden and Kamala will attend. So will President Xi of China, Justin Trudeau of Canada, the Prime Ministers of Japan and Australia, and a host of other Pacific region leaders. There will be a crowd of many assorted corporate CEOs there too.

Leaders and representatives from the following APEC member economies are expected to attend the event in San Francisco:

Australia
Brunei Darussalam
Canada
Chile
People's Republic of China
Hong Kong, China
Indonesia
Japan
Republic of Korea
Malaysia
Mexico
New Zealand
Papua New Guinea
Peru
Philippines
Russian Federation
Singapore
"Chinese Taipei" (aka Taiwan)
Thailand
United States of America
Vietnam

And like magic, the police have been herding the drug addicts and street crazies out of downtown into nearby upscale residential neighborhoods where all the city's "progressive" voters will be sure to welcome them. (Out of sight, out of mind...) Graffiti is being cleaned off buildings and the iconic tourist spots made spiffy.

For years the city has been saying that they can't do anything because of various court rulings. But as soon as China's dictator is set to fly in, a massive cleanup starts!

The area around Moscone Center, the convention center where the events will be held, is being blocked off for traffic for blocks around and pedestrian traffic will be tightly controlled. (Only people who can convince police they have business in the zone will be allowed in on foot.) There's another exclusion zone around the Nob Hill hotels where the dignataries and their entourages will be staying.

Word is going out in the Bay Area's abundant activist community that "Any arrest made around or near the APEC event zone will be charged federally. SFPD, Highway Patrol, National Guard, FBI and CIA are not fucking around with anybody making trouble. If you are caught breaking the law or causing any disruptions, enforcement will NOT be lenient unlike the typical San Francisco prosecution."

That said, I think that we all know that the presence of so much of the world oligarchy and the media covering them will be like catnip for the activists. So I see a collision coming. We can be almost certain that the Palestinians will be out in force.

I think that I might head up to San Francisco myself next week and check things out.

So your taxpayers, voters, and citizens have to deal with crime, homelessness, and abject filth for years, but a bunch of foreigners show up, and within days, everything is fixed. And apparently they said all this was done with existing budgets...which means it could have been done at any time. But the people who vote for these clowns are considered such a reliable voter bloc that none of their politicians care.

If you won't vote Republican, no matter what, this is exactly what you should expect.

I don't see how they can conceal and dress-up all the closed and abandoned stores and businesses, in the "ghost town" sections. Maybe the tag-along family members of the high-profile visitors won't sightsee and explore that intimately. Or they will be shepherded away from the embarrassing spots, much as Westerners touring communist countries were back in the Cold War days.
All kinds of world oligarchs have been flying in the last few days. Their meetings start tomorrow I think.

The news today is that a Czech TV news crew in San Francisco to cover the APEC summit was robbed on the street at gunpoint.

Welcome to our world, Europeans!
