The irony with "Mulholland Drive" is that most of it started out as a pilot for a television series, that was rejected by ABC. When converted to a movie, additional pages were written and new footage was shot that completely changed the original goal of the story. An example of how you can start with a jumble of junk or some stuff that you have no clue as to what it means or where it is headed -- and by simply accepting what you've stuck with and applying relentless imagination, assemble it into an icon.

I remember seeing Mullholland Drive in a theater. Like many of David Lynch's films I was blown away with mixed feelings of desire and eerieness. No other director can embue everyday life with such profound atmospheres of the surreal and the darkly sinister. It's nothing that can be relayed by describing the film. It is in the art of the filming itself. It has to be seen to be experienced.
