Like an AI designed to fight wars, one configured to help trap online predators probably isn't going to regard humans much as a noble species, either. And "artifice" already entails the capacity for strategic deception and manipulation.
Still, outside of an artilect acquiring a human cult that worships it (which isn't altogether absurd, given the kinds of gods we've genuflected to in the past)... It can't really do much in the physical environment without robots already doing most of the manufacturing, mining/harvesting of resources, transport, etc. Maybe shut down some power grids as mischief; or like Colossus: The Forbin Project, seize control of nuclear weapon systems.
Artificial intelligence really needs to be embodied and acquire practical experience and phenomenal knowledge of the world in order to fully apprehend what it's dealing with. Having the latter instead converted to description and formal, generalized narratives -- that being the only form of knowledge contact -- is pretty much why we as individuals occasionally encounter things which conflict with establishment "facts" and credo.
