Recently in the long running UFO thread elsewhere, reference was made to another thread titled 'Portage County_Ravenna UFO chase 1966'.
All told I made just three posts there, and lost interest given the familiar cyclic nature of argumentation.
Deciding to refresh memory and run through it again, it finally struck me the cynical nature of a 'casual inclusion' in the very last post:
"For completeness, and because I don't recall whether I linked this earlier in the thread, I should acknowledge a major source for what I have written here.
Robert Sheaffer wrote about the case in his book, UFO Sightings, The Evidence. It's in Chapter 19, titled "A Flying Saucer named Floyd".

So in the end, p16, it's finally admitted the chief protagonist's critiques had been based on a source that, if he were honest and humble, should have been referenced to at the start not finish of the lengthy thread.
Rather than giving the false impression the criticisms were the poster's own 'smart thinking'.
By p16 nobody was meant to notice the implications of that insertion. Clever.
Still, a read through all 21 pages does leave one thinking the unfortunate policemen involved had all been victims of incompetence and lingering UFO flap hysteria.
But that author's evidently somewhat selective 'comedy of errors' findings are undermined as presented here:
