There's no contradiction between Putin's line that that he hasn't refused to sell natural gas and is not the cause of a shortage in Europe and Europe's reluctance to support Putin's invasion of Ukraine by buying gas from Russia and this reluctance (and this alone) has created the shortage of natural gas in Europe.

Assuming Putin intends to rebuild the old USSR he'll want:
Ukraine, Georgia, Belorussia, Uzbekistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Romania and more (some of which I have to admit I may never even have heard the names of).

The Berlin wall (dividing communist East Germany from democratic West Germany until 1989) was (they say) known as the Anti-Fascist Protection Rampart .. history repeats itself.

The 'documented' attacks on Jews are generally significantly higher in the UK than in Ukraine. Of course the number of documented attacks is the tip of the iceberg and anyone can make up numbers to show Ukraine/UK/Anywhere is dominated by neo-nazis.

The Azov boys .. another time perhaps.
Not even time will likely tell the whole story, but already clear is hardening of polarization between US/EU/NATO and Russia/China/Iran. We are in a slow-burn WWIII. Only a question of whether and when the burn rate goes to hot. Lots of expendable pawns, and lots of hiding places for the super rich, e.g.:
