He was trying to convince me that it was just a coincidental confluence of a meteor, the planet Venus, and a weather balloon all on the same night happening to the same policemen. It was one of the most moronic explanations I have ever heard.

Yes remember it well - I also participated. The skeptics brigade were then and still are a joke.

I think that the tic tac video is probably the most convincing in that what the pilots saw, can’t currently be explained. Could be mundane, but we don’t know.

But this Falcon Lake story …hmm. It has some story holes and inconsistencies (that we’re discussing as well over at SF) that makes me wonder if the claimant had other motives for telling such a story.

Think of it this way though, the Pentagon is taking UAP’s seriously now and that’s progress, at least. I want some of them to be investigated because it could be a matter of public safety, and dismissing them too easily can be dangerous in the long run.
wegs - noticed you voiced skepticism at SF thread that there were no other witnesses to the claimed UFO encounter by Michalek.
Not directly that incident, but read under the sub-heading 'Other Sightings', towards the end of that article cited in #6

Well it seems SOME scientists aren't waiting around for the U.S. Navy or NASA to explore UAPs. Here is the trailer for the new documentary "A Tear In The Sky", following a team of scientists in their high tech search for the elusive craft. Looks promising, but let's be honest. If they had clincher evidence we would've heard about it by now. In the meantime, and without any further ado:

"The award-winning documentary A TEAR IN THE SKY takes you on an unprecedented journey into the UFO / UAP phenomenon. A team of military personnel, scientists and special guest William Shatner will attempt to re-capture, in real time, the US Navy "TicTac" UFOs and other space anomalies, using state-of-the-art, military-grade equipment and technology. What they find instead are thought-provoking clues into the true nature of the UFO phenomenon and the very fabric of our spacetime reality."

Not saying this guy had the genetic condition but…

From Healthline:

Quote: Hypermethioninemia
Hypermethioninemia is an inherited condition. It occurs when there’s excess amino acid methionine in your blood.

A sulfur-like odor often occurs when the methionine isn’t broken down properly within the body. You may also experience breath or sweat that smells like sulfur.

Other symptoms include:

delays in intellectual and motor skills in infants and toddlers
liver problems
muscle weakness
sluggishness
neurological problems

A genetic condition like that would progress over the years and not show up all at once. Also, doesn't explain the welps on his stomach.

Found this statement from his son unusual…
Quote: When I walked into the bedroom there was a huge stink in the room, like a real horrible aroma of sulphur and burnt motor. It was all around and it was coming out of his pores.

How would an encounter with an outside object cause his sweat to smell like sulphur. Is there a better explanation than having the inherited condition?

He was blasted by the hot gas from the grid on the side of the ufo as it took off. That explains how the odor was transferred to his body.
For me it's just another one of those more malevolent type close encounters of the third kind. No need to try and explain how 'an alien saucer' could have done this or that.
Once the many examples of a strong supernatural/paranormal connection is accepted, about anything at all, any combination at all, is par for the course. Again:

And as in many other posts, I will suggest viewing above in the light of e.g. the famous 1978 Enfield poltergeist incidents:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sls6pszMGfk
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pvraq3KfP6w

Beings capable of effecting instant healings of long-standing physical injuries are imo clearly capable of doing just about anything imaginable.
Creating pools of water instantly in the middle of a room, or hurling chairs across a room, are by comparison trivialities.
Anomalous healings/maladies and/or personally experienced poltergeist activities etc., is far from the only UFO close encounters of the weird kind.

A large catalog of events wholly unlikely to be due to 'alien spaceships' or their 'interplanetary aliens' occupants, has been recorded. One mode:
https://www.nicap.org/papers/ufointerf.htm
The tentative 'explanation' in terms of 'ionizing radiation' fails on several counts. I won't bother repeating the details here - posted that earlier over at SF.

Recall coming across article(s) cataloging cases where vehicle headlights have been 'steered', but can't locate such for now.
In other reports, a beam of light projecting from a UFO stops mid-air - another 'physics impossibility'. But not for transcendent but mischievous beings evidently.

Metallic landed saucers, imprints in the ground, radiation traces, burn marks, even 'greys', 'telepathic communication' from such, etc. etc. are imo far more consistent with the antics of higher powers.
With god-like abilities to manifest anything they want, whenever, wherever. They like to play with us - practical jokers is one way of labeling it.

But just go on trying to concoct 'rational explanations' - all based on the premise of either 'space aliens', or rare combos of mundane phenomena, or hoax/lying/delusion/hallucination(mass or singular).
The latter two general categories for sure do encompass many reported UFO events, but far from all.
There is imo an unhealthy and basically cowardly craving for 'respectability' on the part of certain participants in the forum(s) UFO discussions.
An unwillingness to endure the 'UFO nut' or worse 'woo' taunts of so-called skeptics. Hence the tendency to focus on discrepancies rather than confirmatory evidence.
That same unhealthy attitude of wanting to conform to official/majority opinion permeates other arenas of far more importance to society at large too. IMO.
But I note a nice posting over at SF that exemplifies in one encounter, much of what I wrote last post:
https://youtu.be/qvaf1WcS-ak
https://youtu.be/nPoCQcs7dsQ
So - let's have the 'respectable' category explanations trotted forth. Silly as they inevitably will be. But - respectable! No 'woo' stuff allowed!
Someone I know saw two inverted pie-plate shaped objects quietly crossing the sky overhead that were so close to him that they could be described as shiny silvery metallic in nature. At one point sunlight reflected from one directly to where he was situated. This was also witnessed by people close by once brought to their attention. The objects appeared to come out of or from above a large low hanging fluffy white cloud nearby. They slowly moved across the sky heading south. At one point their speed increased noticeably and in a few seconds disappeared from view. Silently the two identical objects moved in unison, offset from one another. Their course was towards an airport about 5 miles away but at no point we’re they seen to descend. Is there an explanation?
