Yeah, there was probably some of that.
They certainly weren't going to give the Best Picture Oscar to what, if it wasn't best picture in today's 'woke' film-school sense, was certainly the year's most popular movie with movie audiences: Top Gun: Maverick. Too patriotic, too pro-military, too... masculine.
