Apologies if this has already been covered here....but anyway:
Something out of left field. Fusion power via some really innovative engineering design features:

Wish them well. If the simulations bear out in practice it may well earn the title 'genuine game-changer' by successfully side-stepping around issues that have plagued traditional inertial confinement approaches.

"Projectile fusion is a new approach to inertial fusion that is simpler, more energy efficient, and has lower physics risk. Inertial fusion is a pulsed process, where, like an internal combustion engine, a small amount of fuel is injected and sparked to make it burn. The main existing approach to inertial fusion uses a large laser as the "spark plug", triggering the reaction. We use a high velocity projectile instead. "

When "Star Wars" doesn't cut it, maybe a retrofuture cannonball era can.
Mmmm. I might not be the only only one thinking 'Scam'.

Given the close connections to Oxford Uni, scam is pretty unlikely. To be fair, there is a considerable legacy of scams or wishful thinking turning into scams in the Alt Energy arena.
Respected household name outfits have their finger in the pie in various ways. Sorting out fact from fiction can be hard:

The amazing ~ 30 year ongoing 'ad-venture' of Randall Mills is something I check out every few years, just to see if his long suffering financial stakeholders have finally revolted.
Or if he actually has managed to pull a commercially viable rabbit out of the hat despite all the odds against it:
