You might notice a change to the layout with the (slow) addition of forum images.

Current images are simply images taken and adapted from a google search.  This can be a concern in regards to copyrights, although the images themselves are resized and slightly altered from their originals.  I'm not one for wanting to take from sites/artists without asking but my intension is to set up some images and then ask if anyone wants to contribute a different/better image to replace the ones that exist. (perhaps as a competition etc)

any thoughts or suggestions are welcome.

I like them. They look great. Hopefully there's no problem with using them.

Wikipedia has lots of public domain images, maybe you can find something there.

I might have to redo them eventually if 50 x 50 pixels (well about 44x 44) is too small for the custom images. I'm trying a slight change to the initial version by having the new message/read, lock and link icons applied on top of the image however I'm still not 100% certain of how they look currently.

The main reason for the image/icon addition is mainly due to the site looking very blue and pretty sterile, having some i-candy of some description might make the place a little more inviting.
