As usual, he and the likes of James R & Co, makes a 'balanced' 'it's all mundane' argument that totally avoids first hand witness accounts refusing to fit that generic mold.

It's the typical skeptic's confirmation bias of eliminating any witnessed details about them in order to make the account fit with their preconceived explanation. For instance, St. Elmo's fire only radiates from metal extentions of the planes. The FF otoh were seen rising up from below the planes and performing aerial maneuvers in the air beside them thus totally debunking that explanation.
